Moths
"Waiter there is a moth in my soup" reads the caption of yesterday's newspaper. Was in awe when I saw the news, Sydney have found a solution to the unusual large seasonal invasion of moths. They put the moths as a new ingredient on the menu, adding a new zest? Haha
Millions of bogong moths have invaded Sydney over the last two weeks, gathering in swarms all over the place, clogging air conditioning ducts and window sills causing disturbance to residents' life.
The locals cooks decide to add them into soup or served in brandy. Flame them so that the wings and fur burn off and turn crunchy. And something that was really surprising, who would have thought the bogong moths are high in fats and proteins. It has been a source of nutrition for Aborigines for thousands of years.
A study found that the moths abdomens, the prime area of the moth. It contains three times the fat and almost twice the energy content as a similar portion of McDonalds Big Mac!! Wondering what is the taste of it? Well, it is said to be nutty, crispy, popcorn flavour like buttered hazelnut. Some even eat it raw! Omg¡As for me, I dont ever think I will have the courage to eat insects. No no in my menu hahaha..
