A local preference on local universities certificates does NOT prove that overseas degrees are inferior. That is PREFERENCE. So Singapore has the best or better universities?

Preference is only a preferred choice. it does not make it equivalent to the best or better choice. And certainly it does not make the other options inferior to the Preferred Choice.
In fact that we only have 2 government universities because we are a small nation. And that is the reason why only the top scorers are able to enter. Many are unable to further their education because of their average scores. The question is should they remain at that level because they do not qualify for local government Uni? Or should they take private degree or go overseas?
‘’ i feel tt
no matter wad degree one takes
its a matter if one did well & scored
its not as if an overseas graduate cld be any worser than local ones’’
I agree with her.
As a teacher, they should be encouraging and helpful. They do not bring you down like this. Suggest or give other opinions but not dampen the student’s interest in further education.
My friend told me her low self esteem in studies was partially resulted from our streaming, benchmarkings and narrow & rigid system. Classifying students at an early stage may not be wrong but how about instilling the mindset that the classifications mean you are inferior to the others. Probably it should have been focusing on their forte and not scrutinizing their weakness. Even I after all these years have been brainwashed and I have bias opinions as well and it is purely on the schools they are enrolled to.
PS: And University of HK is ranked 26. That is higher than both local universities. I doubt many people would know that, thinking HK universities are inferior? Talk about Bias opinions.
